I am a bit nervous anytime an old dog gets their teeth cleaned. Jazzie os Pebbles sister and is almost 11 years old. I had her complete blood work etc don 3 weeks ago All was good. They just called me to say that she needs 2 teeth pulled One incisor and one molar They were loose I requested that she be given an injection for pain and be hook up to an IV port. Am picking her up in a few hours. HAve some extra Tramadol that I had from Pebbles Will doese her up tonight Hope she is doing well there Will not calm down until I see her!!!!

Marianne,
I am hoping all goes well with Jasmine's dental. Fingers crossed she recovers quickly.

I know what you mean Marianne ... any time one of mine has to have a general anaesthetic I practically don't breathe until they call me to say he's awake and it went well. I'm sure Jasmine will do fine, but I totally get why you'd be nervous.
And Jenny ... I'm glad to see you posting today. I'm not sure how far (or close) you are to the fires in Australia that we are hearing about, north of Melbourne, but just stay safe, y'hear!
(((hugs!)))

Hope Jasmine's home and recovering! Chris had to have one of his huge molar type teeth removed and he recovered so quickly - I would have laid around whining for days if they did that to me!
Anxious for news,

Jasmine is home We had to come back 45 minutes later as when we got there Jasmine couldn't walk. It had only been 2 hours. SHe got home and is dazed and confused. The Dr only pulled the molar and left the front tooth alone He said that that one is more difficult to get out and anyway she doesn't use that tooth to eat. Poor baby She is sound asleep now. But her teeth are pearly white I am better having her here. You always worry when a dog is old and needs to be under. I generally would of not considered this but she couldn't pant without us going OMG Jazzie you stink!. SO more kisses for Jasmine and more teeth brushing!!! Thanks for checking up on her

Yay!!
I know it's hard when you bring them home still under the effects of anesthesia. I brought home a cat that way once, after being told she had feline leukemia... she was groggy and pathetic and I was crying my eyes out! But a lot of it was just the anesthesia and I later learned that their test was wrong and she was fine and lived many years after.
Give Jas a hug,
Natalie

Jasmine is still not feeling well.Anesthesia has worn off of course. She doesn't want to eat I suppose that bad tooth removal is painful I gave her 2 tramadol now. Will try the mushy food again. Poor baby. I feel bad.

Gus (feline) was given serious narcotics for a day or two after he had a tooth pulled... Buprenex.
If her pain control doesn't seem adequate, might call the vet and talk to them about it.
Is it just not wanting to eat or is she also looking like she feels poorly?
