To me... today about lunch time, Jack was having a really good time chasing a lab/pointer mix who was pretty beefy... I successfully dodged them a couple of times but the last time they plowed directly into me with a collective 130 pounds at full canine speed.
Which wasn't so bad except the top of my body went one direction and my ankle went the opposite...
So I wound up at the emergency room!
Fortunately, I only sprained my ankle - no broken bones.
Unfortunately, I have an overreactive stress system that tends to make me pass out, which I did... so then I had an IV and a cardiac monitor. Finally managed to convince all involved that this is a genetic trait I inherited from my father, who was infamous for passing out in response to injuries, etc.
That took up most of the afternoon and I'm just now getting to the computer for the first time since this morning.
So I will try to get caught up... looks like I will have plenty of time the next few days to sit at the computer but Jack is gonna be one very bored boy.

Ouch! Getting slammed into by 130 pounds of dog bulk must have you sore in more places than just your ankle - not to mention passing out and hitting the ground. I hope you're not too banged up and feeling better quickly...and that the experience came with good pain meds, lol. Sounds like one very exciting Sunday at the dog park. :p
Feel better soon. :)

Gads - you really scared me, Natalie, with your subject line! I thought it was Jack who had been injured! (haha, but NOT FUNNY!)
Sorry Jack will be bored - yeah; that's bound to happen. Probably his first experience with having you laid up a bit!
Hope you're OKAY! They surely gave you the works! Get better soon, and I hope any soreness will go away soon too!
Hugs -delivered ever so gently,

Boy, Boom! you really got it, I'm glad you are OK, probably had you startled somewhat also. Well now you'll have some time to do some things, I think Jack will understand and no doubt understands what happened.
Once I went to get Chiefs leash when he was outside, I clipped it on held the leash but off guard, he decided to take off, I was pulled on the ground and dragged about 6 ft., my necklace pendant to this day I never found it and I was sore for a few days, those bigger dogs have alot of strength, I was amazed how far he dragged me wondering about the roosters !

Oh my good golly, Nat!
Well, I have been meaning to email you back this week, but now I guess I will just call you to check on you.
Glad nothing was broken. But, yep...Jack is gonna be bummed, no trips to the dog park for a bit. I know that Kelli says Lucca and Zola goes nuts if they can't go....):
So...rest up. There are more ( safe, I hope) great adventures awaiting at the DP!
Love ya...
Judy.

So sorry to hear you had to go to the ER for this one. I've had the joy of trying to walk about 150 pounds of dog (3 of them) at once, with each deciding to head a different direction. And I once had our 140 pound Komodor jump up on me, with paws to my shoulders, and pusing me to the ground.... but I was a lot youger then!
Take care and I'm sure Jack will stay there with you and think about being more careful in the future.

Sorry to hear of your accident Natalie that must have given you a real fright.
I hope the ankle heals quickly for you as it can have a weak spot for a good few weeks. Also your body must have taken a right knock you will be sore for a wee while.
Hope you are on the mend soon. :)

Natalie,
It must have seemed like you were playing canine football and they were tackling you. Glad you weren't seriously hurt; why is it so easy and quick to get into an ER but so time-consuming and tough to get OUT of one?
You must have given them quite a scare when you passed out!
Hope you'll be feeling better soon; Jack's going to need to fine something interesting around the house (besides Gus and Katie) for a little while, as you've been "benched" for a bit!

Thanks all! After hearing about Natasha Richardson last week, I'm glad I didn't hit my head! Actually, I have just one other bruise and the back of one arm is slightly sore and that's it. I seemed to have managed to miss the cement nearby.
Frankly, I could do without this tendency to pass out. It's just ridiculous. But it comes straight from my dad and is definitely an automatic response. But man it creates a lot of fuss.

Nat,
Glad that you are OK!!! 130 lbs is a lot of force. I know it caught you off guard Harley and Demon Sabastion are constantly running into the back of my knees as they are chasing each other. They have nor succeeded in knocking me over.
But I know as we get older we feel it more. I chased Cleo the cat on day as he ran outside I did a face and knee plant on cement. My hip has never healed I think I chipped a bone or something.
So put your legs ups and relax. Jack is probably driving you batty as he is a pretty energetic doggie.

How are you feeling today? Hope your ankle gets better soon.
I got taken down at the dog park almost exactly the same way. Turned to get a ball & took my eyes off the action and BOOM! Back of the knees, down I went.

I am thrilled to report that I'm back on both feet again.
Won't be winning any foot races but at least I've gotten to put away the crutches and can hobble around on my own! There is just too much goin' on around here with the animals for me to be laid up! :o
Jeff still has to handle driving and Jack's outings. He's hoping to come home today again at lunchtime and take Jack out to do his business and burn off some of his abundant energy. Poor guy has been very confused by my sudden refusal to get off the furniture the past two days! And he was afraid of the crutches... before they toppled over and almost hit him...
So I am feeling quite a bit better. I have a lecture to attend tonight on managing canine and feline diabetes and I was most anxious to be semi-mobile for that. It is a presentation by Dr. Bruyette from Southern California, sponsored by Abbott so I'm hoping it is supportive of blood glucose curves!

Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better Natalie:) It will be interesting to see if they are supportive of curves. I just don't understand why, other than once a month trip to the vet to be charged for it, that an intelligent caring human being wouldn't be promoting it.

I think you've answered your own question, but I'm a cynical barstid...;)
