Since every dog is different, I'd like to have input from all of you regarding when your dog's insulin peaks or he/she has his/her bg's go to their lowest point, or nadir.
Please also let us know what type of insulin you're using, and how many units.
I'll go on record by saying that Lucky was one of the apparent few who did peak at 6 hours after his insulin. This was true on Iletin II Lente and Caninsulin/Vetsulin. His dose of Caninsulin/Vetsulin was 4 IU twice a day.

Lucy's peak seems to be around 2pm -2:30pm
I am going over her numbers and it seems to be around this time. That would work out about 8 hours from her shot in the morning.
She is on 14iu of Caninsulin BID. Is this correct? :)

Cara is on 10 1/2 IU Caninsulin BID and gets her AM shot at 6 AM
The insulin usually peaks between 11:30AM and 12:30PM. That's around 6 hours:)!

Ali is on 8 1/4 u Humulin N (just bumped her up from 8 as she'd started running high again).
She usually peaks at 8 hours. I can actually hear her stomach start to make a squishing sound at 2:30am and pm and know she's starting to rise.
With activity around her nadir though, I've seen her lowest point carry through to 12 hours on occasion.
I've also had times where I tested her at 2:30am when I heard her stomach. Then had her roll over so the noise stops and she's been within 5 points of this number in the morning. Very odd.
I really think her digestion plays some role in these variances. She's had the tummy gurgles when she's getting low or on the rise ever since she was diagnosed. It used to bother me. Now it think it's a blessing - to warn me where her numbers are!
