Hi everyone,
My shih tzu, Baci, is 9 years old. He was diagnosed last summer. He takes 7.5 units of Vetsulin 2x a day. He is 20 lbs and eats 2x a day (3/4 cup each meal: 1/3 is a chicken, barley, green bean mix and 2/3 is dry weight maintenance.)
I was about to run out of Vetsulin so I dropped by the vets on Friday to pick up a bottle. I was told they were out and would not be selling it anymore and that I needed to switch to Humulin, which I could buy at Wal-Mart (Novolin). The vet wasn't there so I couldn't get the conversion, and when I called later to try and catch him, they were already out for the weekend.
I will use the last of the Vetsulin Sunday morning, and I will have no choice but to switch that evening. Can someone help me with the conversion until I can get a hold of the vet and new needles on Monday?
I would be using the U-40 needle.
Any help would be appreciated, I don't want to make my baby sick.
Thank you.
