Hi all,
I am in need of advice. My two year old lab was misdiagnosed with allergies when he actually had diabetes. Long story. No he has lost his vision due to cataracts and is not responding to insulin. His levels range between 700-800 when measured at the vet's office and are too high to register on our home monitor. He is rapidly loosing weight and is now at 62lbs. He receives two 15 unit doses of Novolin N at 6am and 6pm with his measured meals. We have switched him over to a no grain, high protein food per our vet's instructions. She has never seen a dog this young with this severe of a case of diabetes. We're going to a university medical hospital on Tuesday to peruse cataract surgery. I'm just worried that he hasn't responded at all to the insulin. Not even a few points! Any advice? Yesterday my husband had to carry him in and out of our house to use the potty. His energy level seems to be dropping and I am worried,
Thank you!
