I have used a discount human meter for all of jesses diabetic life and took the number's as is . Never used a pet meter...

Normally you should do a curve to determine dose adjustments but i do adjust jesses dose depending on fasting but not by much .

Well you could start at a normal starting dose which would be 5.5 units . If after 5 days or up to a week if high( 400s and 500s ) you could probably bump it up to 10 units and do a curve every week...

Get the 30 unit with half unit markings . I dont think there will be any additional discomfort .

Yes a change with insulin may give you 2 a reset . The transition to NPH ( which is the next logical choice ) usually ends up the same amount of units as vetsulin but use a different type of syringe ...
