the vet said to ensure the vetsulin was out of his system. It didn't make sense to us because we could easily test his blood in the AM and see that it's at the right level.

so if he was on 14 of vetsulin should i start higher than 9 units of the Novolin?

I am slightly uncomfortable starting at 9 units when I know he'll mostly likely end up close to where he was.

we're switching from vetsulin to novalin N

my dog is currently on 14 units of vetsulin and we're starting on 9 units of Novalin N

our vet recommended we go 24 hours with no insulin in between...

I just (very) quickly read up on Addisons. He doesn't show any of the symptoms but we'll bring it up with is vet to see if he wants to check for his cortisol level. thank you again !

yes, we do plan to do a curve at 13 before going up to 14.

His numbers were good at 15 at the time of the last curve, but maybe things have changed.

He didn't vomit, he ate his normal meal. He didn't have any unusual activity during the day.
No double injection.
And definitely the insulin was properly mixed too.

It's so strange.

Hi , my dog has been on 15 units of vetsulin 2x a day since January when we got him regulated. We've done several curves and all have been good.

He eats and gets his injections at 6am and 6pm...

Ironically it was California pet pharmacy that was $65 shipping. On their site, it charged me $5.75 shipping, but then they called me after I placed my order and told me that I needed to pay $65...

We did the 12, and his sugars were in the 200 range 4.5 hours after injection.
One time it was even 400's, which is strange as the glucose curve never went that high.

We started today on 13...

Update:
Saw the new vet on Friday.

Metering:
He showed me how to use the Alphatrak meter and encouraged us to get one.
We ordered one and I plan on doing his first curve tomorrow.
