Re: Commercial dog foods for Diabetic

Actually foods with carbs and sometimes an abundance of them work well with injected insulin as dogs seem to metabolize insulin faster so the need for a quick boost of sugar early is helpful from...

Re: Vetsulin vs. Novolin N vs. Novolin 70/30

Its a pretty large imbalance and lots of it looks like rebound to me spiking off a low . There are some really good days but they are far in between . I had similar numbers with jesse early on until...

Re: Elderly long-term diabetic having weird episodes

Jesse was a free feeder before she was diabetic . I would give her a bowl of food and she would come back to it during the day to eat . Kind of like a cat . She became more food motivated after she...

Re: Newly Diagnosed, having issues

That is interesting with numbers in the 300s without any insulin but of course no food either but you would still think numbers would be well into the 500s

I only give jesse one meal a day as...

Re: Questions about Yuki

Jesse eats one meal a day which maybe an option

There could be changes in the body as he gets older that could cause the need for less insulin

Inconsistent eating can also impact the lows...

Re: Dog diagnosed with diabetes 4/28/20

Good Idea

Like I suggested 7 units is a tiny dose for an 80 pound dog and seeing mid 100s for blood sugar

Maybe the only way to truly find out is maybe go off of insulin for a few days ....
