Another option is a small dose of Regular insulin given in the afternoon... maybe an hour before dinner and normal insulin to bring that high blood sugar down.

That would make up for the lack...

I don't know a lot about the hydrolyzed diet but would suspect that it is digested a lot faster than unhydrolized protein.

So if Yuki is slow to put the insulin to work and digests the food...

Best time for exercise depends on your dog's feeding/insulin times and the shape of the blood glucose curve.

You want to avoid times when the blood sugar tends to be lowest, and that varies...

No one can prevent you from testing your dog's blood sugar at home. Just go get a human meter - best bet on brand is a OneTouch if you have those handy there - and do it.

We used to always save a little in the old bottle for situations like this so we could compare and see if there was a problem with a new bottle....
