I would just always pick somewhere where I could take Murphy with me. Did not trust leaving him anywhere and never found anyone who could give him his shots and make sure he would eat also. It's...

Re: Maggie's having trouble getting around, help?

I had the same issue with Murphy re back legs, his BG took a long time to regulate and he had the weakness in his legs. I did try the B12 and some other recommended supplements and none of it...

Re: First Hypoglecemic Event

Update: Murphy is doing fine, moving around well now and had no problem eating his dinner. I tested an hour after his meal and he is at 105 so I don't plan on giving him insulin unless the numbers...

Re: Newly diagnosed and not responding to insulin

Hi, One thing I will add, it sounds to me that your Vet doesn't know too much about diabetes which all of us have found is quite common. This is a disease you will be dealing with for the rest of...

Re: Blood glucose and body temperature

As someone else suggested you probably should stick to feeding only two times a day at the same time you give the insulin, makes regulating him a lot easier. Another thing the amount you are feeding...

Re: Gizmo refuses to let me give insulin

If you are giving the shot correctly most times the dog shouldn't feel it. What size needle are you using? I use 30 or 31 with Novolin NPH, it's a tiny needle and he doesn't even flinch when it...

Re: Hobbs the Lab

Re: Cadbury was diagnosed today and we're having a rough start!

I totally agree with everyone saying that 9 units is way too low for a dog of that weight, his BG will not go down, as you can see by the numbers, with such a low dosage for a dog his size. My dog...

Re: Can't get any blood in tail test- Help

The only area Murphy will let me get blood is his elbow calluses, he doesn't feel a thing. I rub them for awhile to get the blood moving and no problem, he just lays there. Hope this helps!

Re: We're new to this. Four days in. Please help!

I also test on the callus and Murphy's are old and thick too but what I do it rub them a lot or put a warm towel on and that will make the blood come out easier. It makes the circulation start...

Re: Help I'm reading the boards..
