It's been awhile and I'm trying to catch up here. We've just driven from Utah to Texas in a motorhome, a five-day trip, and Jeb has done great. It's our third cross-country trip since he's had diabetes. The first time was soon after he was diagnosed, I wasn't testing yet, didn't know much of anything, and he dropped so low he had a seizure. We had to basically start over with regulation. Then last year we came in a car, the vet suggested dropping him two units, I think, and he went really high. This time I dropped him half a unit, gave him extra snacks, tested a lot, and he stayed in the 200's. So I'm really happy. We got here Saturday, have gone for long walks the past two mornings, and it seems like he remembers the places we went last year. I'm going to get back to reading now and try to catch up with all of you. I want to welcome all the new people and tell you you've found a wonderful place.

Great news!!!! SUCCESS!Soaphie = 15 yr old Border/Berner mix dx 07/08. ~8.25 units a.m./p.m. vetsulin, blind/deaf. Ultra Senior, Vital Beef/Bison, Brown Rice and lots of loving. Soaphie passed on October 29, 2015. Sydney = 14.5 yr old Aussie/Shar Pei mix dx 11/10. NPH-varies w/ predinisone a.m./p.m., blind/deaf. Sydney passed on June 3, 2014.Comment

we started to get the hang of it on the 3rd time
its great things worked outJesse-26 lbs - 16.5 years old ,11 years diabetic, one meal a day homemade and a vitabone snack . 3 shots of Novolin( under the Relion name ) a day . Total insulin for a 24 hour period is 6.5 units of NPH insulin .

Thanks, everybody. He's still doing well. In fact, he's doing even better here. He has arthritis and has quit going up and down stairs at home, even with rimadyl. But in here in Texas, he's going up and down the stairs of my son's house every time I do. I would like to ask for anyone who believes in prayer to pray for our 18-year-old grandson, Richie. He has been in the hospital for awhile waiting for a heart transplant. Last week, he became so sick they didn’t think he would live another day. They took him to surgery and implanted a biventricular assist device, a combination of two devices that support the left and right sides of his heart. While he was in surgery, he had what they call a spinal cord infarction, a stroke of the spinal cord. He is now paralyzed from the shoulders down. They say that sometimes people have some recovery from this and sometimes they don’t. They’ve taken him off the heart transplant list. We are basically praying for a miracle. If anyone could add your prayers to ours, we would greatly appreciate it.
