I started my fur baby on Novolin N and so far it is going well. My problem is with the U100 syringes. She was on 8 units of Vetsulin so I started her out with 6 units of Novolin N. I would like to increase her to 6.25 units but eyeballing it on the U100 syringe is next to impossible. After extensive searching, it appears I can not find a smaller U100 syringe than 30 units. I am tempted to use U40 syringes with the Novolin N (a U100 insulin) unless someone here explains to me why I can't. According to my math, since Novolin N is 2.5 times stronger than a U40 insulin, then 6.25 units of U100 insulin would be 2.5 units on the U40 syringe. This would be significantly easier to read on the U40 syringe. Is my math right? Do you agree? Or am I totally off in my reasoning or approach? Is this not a viable solution? Image:
