Just like scripts for humans, there is a box on there where they must write out the letters 'DAW' (dispense as written) if they do not want it to be filled with a generic. Otherwise, you can get the script written for Rimadyl and then order a generic version 'Novox' - so much cheaper. I pay about $95 for a bottle of 180 pills of the highest (100mg) strength, and the name brand is usually twice that at any supplier. I've seen no quality issues - the meds are regulated like human meds, so the generic must be bio-equivalent to the name brand.
Grayson - 95lb black lab, 10yrs old, diagnosed 3/22/14 - Novolin N (27units) and Merrick Grain Free Buffalo and Sweet Potato dry food - Novox 100mg twice daily & a Cosequin supplement - Alphatrak2 & One Touch Mini
