Tomorrow I pick up Izzy's ashes at the vet, who graciously kept them until I returned. Leah had planned to be here, but can't get home this weekend, so I will be going alone. Not what I had in mind. I will take the leftover meds with me and ask the vet to either give them to someone who is in financial straits or to a rescue group. I hope they will help someone else's pet.
In some ways it doesn't seem like she is really gone because our original plans were for her to be with Leah (and she would not have been here now). Having the ashes here will make me face the reality that she really is gone. But I know she is at peace, and that matters most.
