The outer cartons of Humulin have been changed and color-coded to distinguish what type of insulin is in the vials. Pen fill cartridges have also been color-coded like the vials.

I wondered what everyone was talking about. I have been using Humulin N since August 06 and your "new" packaging is the only one I have ever seen here in Australia???? It does make sense to have the packaging the same in all countries, I wonder why it was different.

I just found this from the UK. You can tell how long ago this was new, as both Humulin L and Humulin Zn (Ultralente) are on the list. It looks as though they are finally making their packages and labels international.
http://www.yorkshirediabetes.com/dow..._RangeChar.pdf This is from Lilly, UK, and dates back to September 2003. You can see the similarities between this "new" UK packaging then and the current US package changes. http://www.yorkshirediabetes.com/dow...etes_A3Pos.pdf Humulin I (isophane) is Humulin N in North America http://petdiabetes.wikia.com/wiki/Humulin_I http://petdiabetes.wikia.com/wiki/Humulin_N Humulin S (soluble) is Humulin R here http://petdiabetes.wikia.com/wiki/Humulin_S http://petdiabetes.wikia.com/wiki/Humulin_R Humulin M3 is Humulin 70/30 http://petdiabetes.wikia.com/wiki/Humulin_M3 http://petdiabetes.wikia.com/wiki/Humulin_70/30 Humulin M5 is Humulin 50/50, even though Lilly stopped selling M5 in the UK and EU in 2004. http://petdiabetes.wikia.com/wiki/Humulin_M5 http://petdiabetes.wikia.com/wiki/Humulin_50/50 Kathy |
