Hello Forum -
I want to introduce you to my wonderful, amazing friend Nisay and her vet-in-training 13-year-old daughter Esther (my adopted granddaughter) who will be caring for Jeb for the next three weeks while we go to Peru. I really appreciate the forum being available to them if they need help - and I feel surprisingly calm about leaving. Thank you in advance for any help they might need. Glennys

have a fantastic time! I'm so glad you aren't worried. My guess is Jeb will have his sitters wrapped around his paws by the time you get back

We’re home! We had a wonderful trip to Peru and Jeb (and my good friend) did great. He had some highs and got a little low on July 4th and she did exactly what I would have done. He’s staying very close to me now, which I’m loving.
Thank you so much, everyone, for being available to help. I appreciate it more than I can tell you. I felt like the forum was Jeb’s guardian angels. The first few days, if I woke up after 5:00 am, I'd feel a little panic as if I were late for his shot. Then in the afternoons about 4:30, I'd feel like I had to get home fast. I’m really grateful for all the resources we have. I don’t think a dog with diabetes in Peru would have a chance, except maybe in some areas I’ve never seen. There are stray dogs everywhere. They seem really mellow but they’re skinny and dirty and just eat whatever they can find. The people call them “street dogs” and pretty much just seem to ignore them. I kept watching them and thinking, "You just need someone to love you." I did some research yesterday on stray dogs in Peru and discovered that Dr. Joi Sutton of American Diabetes Wholesale actually started a non-profit organization several years ago to spay and neuter stray dogs in 3rd world countries and has even been to Peru. I want to thank you again for all the well wishes. We had a wonderful, amazing trip and I’m very grateful. Glennys and Jeb
