yes the lower trend can point to problems with organs producing sugar for the body but if your having appetite problems that can definitely create lower sugar

any problems in the mouth can cause difficulty eating and as we all know not feel good . hard to say if it is the primary problem for miley . someone who knows may need to make a determination of what it is and how it is affecting miley

jesse has her challenges also she will be 12 this year . she always seems to bounce back from problems but i know this will not always be he case as she gets older

hope for you guys find a direction to go with miley and move forward we know you've done your best to keep him happy

Thanks for the response. I did not give her insulin last night because she was just too low. Her numbers went through the roof in the middle of the night, but kinda knew that would happen. She ate and I gave her, her insulin this morning. I will be home today to watch her.

I understand where you are at - it is so hard when you start seeing signs that things aren't quite right. I see things with Maggie and always question myself with how far I am willing to go to test and potentially treat. I let my vet guide me by getting the answers to questions like"If it is cancer, would I risk the surgery?" "Would I be willing to put her through treatment?". I went through it when Maggie had a blood vessel tumor. He told me that removing that type of tumor if it is cancer would probably eliminate the cancer, so chances are good there would be no further treatment so we did it.

With the heart issue, you might try to get more info. When he means not healthy, is he talking congestive heart failure or murmurs or what? There might be meds that can improve the quality of her life and extend that life. I don't know if a heart consult is in the budget or not and you have to make that decision as well as if you feel Miley's life could be made better. I know I take into account everything now on the potential effect on Maggie's quality of life. If you feel she has gone beyond a point where she would not benefit, then you might just want to keep her comfortable. There is no right or wrong answers to the questions - you know her best and if you feel she is beyond getting much help or comfort from further poking and prodding and meds, then you are always justified in your decisions. I would never try to push someone to go beyond what they feel is best. Because I wouldn't want someone who doesn't know or live with Maggie to tell me what to do. But maybe talking out these questions for yourself will help you decide what path to go. You are absolutely right whichever way you go.

        Hugs to you!

There are some very good medications for some types of heart problems. Basically no side effects and I know they gave our dog at least another year and a half he wouldn't have had otherwise.

So I would do a consult with a veterinary cardiologist to find out exactly what is going on with the heart and what treatments might be available. I also think a specialist might be able to give you a more definitive answer about the growth in the mouth. It can help to know what you are dealing with as long as it's not invasive to find out. A good specialty clinic will have both a cardiologist and a cancer specialist available and could wrap them into one appointment. Vet schools also.
