Does it hurt to start them on glucosamine even though they dont have arthritis?
I hope he doesn't have arthritis.. Is there a way to check and know for sure if he has arthritis developing? Xrays wont show early signs of it right?

I don't think glucosamine hurts dogs but I'm not an expert. I also gave Snickers collagen because it works so well for me. I used Macondo Pets Joint support https://makondopets.com/collections/hip-joint-care. I also gave Snickers tart cherry extract - it is an anti-inflammatory - sprinkled over her food. https://www.swansonvitamins.com/swan...465-mg-60-caps
Your vet is your best source to evaluate Mochi's limping. She test for range of motion to determine possible explanations for his discomfort. It could be a strain or a bruise. Hopefully it is not arthritis.

Thank you LizE,
I have a vet appointment booked for Mochi tomorrow right after his eye specialist appointment.. I haven't noticed much limping the past few days after last week but today I noticed he was doing it again when he got up this morning. I'm starting to lose hope... I just lost my other dog and all this is happening one after another...

Mochi's eye has become very complicated and concerning. It wont heal and has a lot of inflammation underneath..the eye specialists are trying to figure out a way to get rid if the infection and inflammation and may have to put him under to get under the eye.
Hes starting to limp even more and now his right front leg seems to be limping too.. ![]() I bought him flaxedin plus supplements for joints but I read on the label that it should not be given to a dog with diabetes...now another alternative is to give him cartrophen Injections. Do you guys know about those shots and if you think it's safe for diabetics? I dont know how all this happened and is happening.. I'm a mess right now.. everything is just crumbling

She did and asked for me to bring him to the vet and get another blood panel done. His blood work came back really good. Better than the last blood work 4months ago. So she doesn't think it does now.
I have a bad feeling that mochi may have jumped down the stairs and slipped or he tripped over things because hes unable to see. I really hope his eye will heal because I notice it does bother him and he's been wearing the come 24/7... I got my vet to order dasuquin for mochi. Hopefully it works...

Hi all...
So a few months ago my chihuahua krunky passed away..a few weeks later my diabetic mochi decided to run into a bush and jabbed his eye..it took months of in and out of the eye specialist to figure things out and finally his eye was on the road to recovery. A couple weeks after he hurt his eye though..he started limping..I think he slightly hurt himself and his arthritis is showing.. I started giving him glucosamine..and his back legs stopped limping but it went to his front left leg..that never got any better...and it kept getting worse.. I suspected it wasnt just from arthritis but from an injury that's causing more problems. The past month and a half he was able to run and walk still. He would get up and limp a bit and then shake it off and he looked ok again. But when he plays too rough I noticed he would lift his arm up a bit again. I brought him to the vet and had an xray done. He does have mild arthritis developing but it shouldnt be the cause of his arm to be like this. Last saturday he seemed ok until my dad came home ..he bursted up to go to him and he completely blew out his arm..I quickly brought him to the vet and my vet thinks he has tendonitis..I'm still confused because I told him he just became like this after he bursted up..shouldnt it be an injury? He hasnt put that front leg down since...and he would always lift it up when hes walking...I asked them to refer me to a specialist because maybe they'll know more ..I'm scared he might need surgery even though my vet doesnt think he will. His blood sugar seemed ok on friday but not today..it was sky high when I took it during the nadir hour..could it be the lack of exercise hes getting since hes been hurt?.. Any words will help me guys..I feel like I'm just snowballing again and keep having the worst luck with my dogs...

We all worry about our dogs . They still look like pups on the outside but on the inside they are getting tired . Sometimes their brain thinks they are still young . Not much different from humans .
I once saw a coyote walking jesse limping pretty bad and I thought to myself how will that animal survive . The next time we saw the coyote walking jesse he was back to normal . It kind of let me know that things can get better on their own but it may take time As long as jesse is not in really rough pain we just live with it as with myself . For jesse at her age any surgery is out of the question . We may use pain management in the future if it does not alter her personality to much

Hi everyone..
Mochi's blood sugar has been managed quite well before he injured his arm. His arm seems to be more serious than just a strain or arthritis. He needs to go in for a ct scan Thursday and maybe ultrasound if nothing is detected on his shoulder and elbow. He's been off of the leg for 3 weeks now and we have not walked him since...his blood sugar seems to be really off now..numbers jump quite a bit... His highs will be in the 400's and lows in the 110's. Today he seemed to have jumped from 220 at 12pm to 400 at 3pm. Do you think injuring his arm and lack of exercise causes this?

Its possible . Jesse has actually needed a tad more insulin and her numbers are actually a bit more stable which allowed the larger dose
Pain can have such an affect on cortisol levels which affects blood sugar also Hope mochi can get better soon and hope that helps with more stable blood sugar
