Default Happy Easter

Happy Easter to all.

I wanted to share an Easter tradition adopted from my neighbor's family. I struggle a bit to put traditions in place for my son as they weren't a big priority for my family when I was growing up.

The first and favorite is Nascegg. This is the only time in the year when Basil isn't yelled at for being in the road (we live in a small village). We roll the hard boiled eggs, decorated the night before, down the road outside our house which is on a pretty big hill. Whoever makes it to the bottom without being hit by a car or falling apart from the repeated throws when they stop rolling wins.

The other is Peep Wars. For this one you put 2 of those yellow marshmallow chicks in the microwave, somehow marking whose is whose and whichever one melts first is the loser. Then of course you get to eat them. Apparently they are better after this process. I haven't tried eating one yet, but may have to give it a go this year.

Also gave myself permission this year to do the egg hunt after the midday meal instead of at the crack of dawn. Basil is 8 now so I figure it is easier for him to wait till midday then for me to delay coffee and trample around in the back yard in a fog.

I hope everyone has a nice day.

Tara in honor of Ruby.
She was a courageous Boston Terrier who marched right on through diabetes, megaesophagus, and EPI until 14.
Lucky for both of us we found each other. I'd do it all again girly.

sounds like some very nice traditions you developed tara lots of fun

always like the egg hunts i think the most fun we had during a challenging time in my life (isnt that funny those are the memories that are the strongest ) is i took the kids up to a mountain area for the egg hunt very pretty there was some snow and i hid the eggs while the kids were not looking i did a good job

the kids found all the eggs except one you would think following my tracks in the snow we should find them all but we never did i told the kids the Easter bunny wanted one of the eggs for what purpose we will never know

any time we went to that location we always wonder what happened to that egg

happy easter everyone

Happy Easter to everyone! I have to share a tradition in Baltimore - it's the Peeps Recipe Contest. Who will make the best recipe out of those marshmallow peeps? Personally I can't stand the things - they gross me out.

However, I've attached a link and if you can get through the side ads, they have recipes for "Peep R Nutter cupcakes", "Pork loin stuffed with peaches and Peeps and drunken Peeps sauce", "Peep pot pie" and "Peeps crab nuggets". The contest started at the beginning of March and these were the winners. Happy eating for all you peep lovers!
