I have a question for folks--I have a glucometer but I don't know how to use it!!! At the vet, when I bought it, we tried her ear, but didn't get a blood drop. I read somewhere the inner lip is good because there are few nerve endings there...has anyone tried testing here?

Re: Question on where to test blood sugar
Hi!
I'm glad to see you were able to get logged on and post!
If you go to www.k9diabetes.com/bgtestvideos.html, you will see tutorials for the lip (on Chris - it's a BIG file so wait for it to download), the back at the base of the tail, a paw pad, and an elbow callous.
Ears are one of the more difficult places to test with dogs so you'll likely have better luck elsewhere.
I know of a chihuahua who is tested on the lip so it works for small dogs too. Base of the tail is also very popular with small dogs.
AlphaTrak offers a one-video tutorial of various methods - you have to wade through it all to see the ones you want but that is another possibiity. See our Answers section for links: http://www.k9diabetes.com/forum/showthread.php?t=960
