FYI some glitches posting recently

Several people have reported a problem posting recently. It's one I have seen crop up occasionally over the past seven years, but it's been long enough now since it last happened that I don't remember what the cause was. Could be the server for the site is having some problems running the software.

So if you do have that problem, it's not you. And I'm working on identifying / resolving it.

To avoid losing a long post in the interim, you can compose your post in an email or in Word and then copy and paste it into the window. Will work best if you use plain text.

Will let you know what I find out.

By the way, I may close the forum briefly this morning to do some maintenance on the database. Doesn't take very long so if you see if shut down, that's why and it should be back up soon after.

thats what I tried the other day, but even when I pasted it back into that one thread I received an error message. No problems except for that one thread Things are fine now, I think.

It doesn't help you post it all at once, unfortunately, but at least you can save it and post it in pieces or post it later. Just avoids the screech of frustration when you've done all that composing and typing and it goes POOF into thin air!

I got an email from another user having the same problem on another thread and years ago I have had it as well.

Knowing how I tend to ramble and the way the internet works - I often compose in a different window

One of these days I will learn the "less is more" lesson...
