I would be very, very wary anesthesia-free dentistry - in fact I would never have it done after reading this: http://www.petmd.com/blogs/fullyvett...istry-your-pet

I also know of someone who's dog was severely injured (hip dislocation) during this procedure - the dog fought and struggled. Needless to say this led to several extra anesthetics for the ensuing treatment and repair procedure!

My boy (young and healthy) cleans his own teeth - on great big beef thigh bones. Not an option for everyone and every dog by any means, but great it works for you. My vet says it is the ideal method if it suits you, your dog and your life. I did used to brush his teeth daily (he was very cooperative) but he does a better job himself with a bone.
